UPDATED: Murfreesboro Police Confirm Charges in Theft of Donation Jar for St. Jude Children's Hospital

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – UPDATED - The Murfreesboro Police Department believes they have identified the suspect in a case that involved the theft of a donation jar. Evidently, the jar that sat on the counter at Georgetown Wine & Spirits at 1720 West Northfield Boulevard, was part of a local effort to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The jar was even marked “Donations” for St. Jude.

According to authorities, the person of interest (photo above article) entered the liquor store and allegedly stole the donation jar that was reported to contain about $300. The theft report was filed on June 15th. After the theft, the culprit fled the store.

Police later asked for the public's help in identifying the man who was caught on camera, which they have. Now, police confirm they have not only identified the man, but have also charged him with “Theft under $1,000.” Police confirmed the charges on Tuesday morning (July 11, 2023).
