MURFREESBORO, TN - WGNS News has an update on the alleged Friday (11/24/2023) night beating and stabbing of a homeless man that took place in the parking lot of a store at 2870 Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro.

As reported earlier, just after 5 PM on Friday night, a man was beaten and then stabbed multiple times in the parking lot of Kelton’s Hardware. After the brazen attack, the three assailants fled on foot. The injured male was able to slowly pull himself across the parking lot, and to one of the hardware stores entrances.

Staff members at Kelton’s Hardware along with a customer were compassionate heroes. They jumped-in and immediately gave aid to the injured man who crawled across the parking lot and caught their attention. While the Kelton's employees and a customer aided the injured man, 911 was called for help.

Suspects Identified from Surveillance Video

Now, detectives have positively identified the three individuals believed to have been involved in the stabbing. The MPD confirmed that investigators have obtained an attempted 1st degree murder warrant for the adult male suspect and two juvenile petitions, charging an underage male and female with attempted 1st degree. At this time police are still attempting to locate the three subjects.

If you know the whereabouts of the three suspects, contact Murfreesboro Police Detective Stalnaker at 629-201-5615.

Comments from Management at Kelton

All of us at Kelton's Hardware and Pet were shocked at the incident that happened at our store this past weekend. We have never experienced anything like this in our 60+ years of serving our community. We hope for a speedy and full recovery for the victim and that justice is served on his assailants.

We take the safety and security of our employees, customers, and community seriously which is why we have an extensive security system with cameras throughout our stores’ interior and exterior (which helped with the search).

We are also very proud of how our staff, plus one customer, reacted and immediately helped the victim and contacted the authorities to get him medical assistance. We also want to thank our Murfreesboro PD, Fire, and EMT as they were here within minutes to help with the victim.

We are fortunate to live in a community with a very low crime rate, but we also understand that crime happens everywhere and we’re always focused on our customers safety.  (from Kelton's FB listing)

(PREVIOUS Story: MURFREESBORO) Here's an update on the Friday (11/24/2023) night beating and stabbing that took place in the parking lot of a store on the Old Fort Parkway.

As reported earlier, around 5:12PM Friday night, a man was beaten and stabbed multiple times. The three assailants fled on foot. The injured male was able to slowly pull himself across the parking lot, and was near enough to the doors for one of the employees at Kelton's Hardware to see the man, call 911 and render help until first-responders arrived.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

As reported earlier on WGNS, the three suspects fled on-foot toward the Mapco Convenience Store on Old Fort Parkway at Gresham Lane. That's only about 300-feet away. Three subjects matching those descriptions were spotted on the surveillance system in the store.

If anyone recognizes the two males and female in the photos, please contact Murfreesboro Police Detective Drew Stalnaker at 629-201-5615.
