Murfreesboro, TN -  On January 15, 2024, the Murfreesboro community will come together to commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day March. Mark this significant event in your calendar, as it provides a meaningful opportunity to honor Dr. King's contributions to the civil rights movement.

The march, scheduled for January 15th, stands as a powerful expression of solidarity for the values Dr. King passionately advocated for - social justice, equality, and the dream of a united nation. The march will begin at 12-noon outside of Central Magnet School on East Main Street this Monday.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the march, symbolizing their commitment to carrying forward Dr. King's vision. It is a chance to stand for the principles of justice and equality, embodying the spirit of unity that Dr. King championed throughout his life.

This year's march holds added significance, serving as a platform for community members to engage with political candidates vying for positions in Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City. All candidates are invited to attend the march and the subsequent program, fostering an environment for the community to connect with those running for public office.

In addition to the march, Patterson Park Community Center will host a voter registration and education drive. This initiative, led by the Omicron Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated®, and the Pi Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, aims to empower and inform community members about their voting rights and civic responsibilities.

Make a meaningful impact this Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day by participating in the march, connecting with local candidates, and contributing to the voter registration and education drive. Let's come together to honor the legacy of Dr. King and work towards a more just and equitable community for all.
