Murfreesboro, TN – Attention all residents! If your garbage pickup day has been on FRIDAY, take it out WEDNESDAY! Starting this Wednesday (2/26/2025), there will be a change in garbage pickup days. For many 'Boro households who have taken garbage cans to the streets for 20, 30, 40 or more years, this Wednesday marks a "change"!
New to Murfreesboro? Here are some important reminders:

Place garbage carts on the street before 6:00 AM on the morning of the scheduled collection.

Trash should be placed in garbage bags before being placed in the cart.
The City of Murfreesboro handles its solid waste collection. By moving the Friday schedule, time can be set aside for maintenance and repair of both equipment and garbage cans.
Speaking of garbage cans, the City provides residents with a free 96-gallon garbage cart, emptied once per week. Additional carts are available for purchase.
