MURFREESBORO, TN - After nearly three decades of dedicated service, Gordon Ferguson (pictured above), President and CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, is preparing to retire in June 2025. His leadership spanned the hospital’s transformation from its days as Middle Tennessee Medical Center on North Highland Avenue and Bell Street to the state-of-the-art 400+ bed facility on Medical Center Parkway.

Today on the show, Ferguson reflects on the hospital’s monumental growth, groundbreaking advancements in local healthcare, and his personal journey into the field of hospital administration.

In this interview with WGNS' Scott Walker, Ferguson also mentions his successor, Daphne David, who officially stepped into the role on May 1, 2025.

With a passion for patient care inspired by his father’s ministry in East Tennessee, Ferguson’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of Rutherford County’s medical landscape.
