Murfreesboro, TN - Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue Department responded to an exterior fire at a residence on Sapphire Drive. Crews arrived to find flames burning along the outside of the home. Fortunately, the fire was quickly brought under control before it could enter the interior. Following an investigation, the Fire Marshal’s Office determined that improperly discarded fireworks were to blame. Spent fireworks had been placed in a plastic trash can next to the home while still hot, causing a fire that damaged the home’s siding and a nearby vehicle. No injuries were reported. “We’re grateful no one was hurt, and we appreciate our crews’ quick response,” said Battalion Chief Clay Estes. “Please share this message—let’s keep each other safe by staying fire-smart.
