MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Outdoor Recreation announced a total of $22,059,191 in grants through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), Tennessee Recreation Initiative Program (TRIP), and Recreational Trails Program (RTP) to support 31 communities across the state—including key investments in Rutherford County.
Rutherford County Highlights

Town of Smyrna received funding via RTP for its tennis and pickleball court improvements. This investment will enhance outdoor sports facilities and expand recreational opportunities for residents.
Statewide Grant Summary

LPRF: Matches local investments for parks, greenways, and recreation facilities on public land.

TRIP: Helps municipalities establish their first dedicated Parks & Recreation departments.

RTP: Provides federal funds for trail development, maintenance, land acquisition, and support facilities.
