TDEC Awards $22M in Grants to Support Local Parks and Trails Across Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Outdoor Recreation announced a total of $22,059,191 in grants through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), Tennessee Recreation Initiative Program (TRIP), and Recreational Trails Program (RTP) to support 31 communities across the state—including key investments in Rutherford County.

Greer Tidwell, Deputy Commissioner for Conservation, said:

“Local parks are an important aspect of outdoor recreation… this makes parks affordable for local governments.”

Brian Clifford, Director of Outdoor Recreation, added:

“These projects will directly improve health and strengthen economies, helping Tennessee thrive through parks and outdoor recreation.”
