Woman Killed in Bell Road Head-On Collision; Maserati Driver Facing Multiple Charges in Antioch

Antioch, TN - The victim in a deadly head-on crash that occurred early Sunday morning on Bell Road has been identified as 37-year-old Raquel Lorena Sarabia Barajas. She was riding as a passenger in a Nissan Rogue when the collision happened.

Metro Police report the crash occurred on Bell Road at Harris Hills Lane, about one mile west of the I-24 interchange at about 3:30 in the morning. The preliminary investigation shows a westbound Maserati SQ4 sedan crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck the Nissan Rogue head-on.

Sarabia Barajas died at the scene, according to Metro Police. Both drivers — the Nissan driver and the Maserati driver — were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police stated the Nissan driver sustained life-threatening injuries, though no update on their condition has been released.

The Maserati driver, identified as 36-year-old Julio Ceasar Herrera Gonzalez, reportedly suffered only minor injuries. Authorities highlighted that Gonzalez showed signs of impairment after arriving at the hospital.

Metro Police confirmed that Gonzalez is facing charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, DUI, and driving without a license. As of 2 p.m. Monday (August 11, 2025), there has not been a confirmation of Gonzalez being formally arrested.
