MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) will hold its annual meeting this Saturday, August 16, 2025. For newcomers to the area who may be unfamiliar with electric cooperatives, MTE is a member-owned, not-for-profit utility serving more than 307,000 meters across four counties.

MTE Public Relations Coordinator Amy Byers told WGNS…Founded in 1936 by rural farmers and homeowners, MTE has grown to serve more than 750,000 residents across Rutherford, Williamson, Wilson, and Cannon counties. Today, MTE provides service to not only homes and farmers, but also to schools, factories, distribution centers, offices, local businesses and more.

Membership in the cooperative gives residents a voice in how MTE is operated. One way members can participate is by voting for who they believe would be the best leader for their area. Byers explained that members may cast their ballots in the MTE Directors race and in the Election of Nominating Committee Members throughout the remainder of the week at any MTE customer service location…

VOTE NOW: Members have until Saturday to vote. Weekday voting is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at all local MTE offices. On Saturday, polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. (Voting period runs from August 11 through August 16, 2025.)

The cooperative's Annual Meeting is one of the many benefits of being a member of an electric cooperative. The meeting, held each year in August, offers members the opportunity to meet the Board of Directors, the co-op's senior leadership, and other co-op employees. Members hear reports on the cooperative's finances and programs, elect directors and nominating committee members, and hopefully have some fun along the way.
