RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Rutherford County just got a little more national recognition, thanks to Christiana Middle School Principal Dr. Kyle Nix. She’s been elected to the board of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, a group that supports school leaders across the country and oversees programs like the National Honor Society and the National Association of Student Councils. More importantly, Dr. Nix isn’t new to leading with heart and vision.
At Christiana Middle School in Rutherford County, she’s known for putting students, teachers, and staff first. Under her leadership, the school became the district’s first to earn a STEAM designation, opening doors to hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Her focus on clear communication and strong support systems has helped shape a school culture that thrives.
Now, she’s taking that experience to the national level. “It is an honor and privilege to serve on the board and work alongside school and student leaders from across the nation to achieve excellence in education,” Nix said. She’s especially excited to help amplify student voices and support fellow principals in their work.
For Christiana and Rutherford County, it’s a proud moment. One of their own is helping shape the future of education—not just here at home, but across the country.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) is led by a 19-member board made up of practicing middle and high school principals and assistant principals. The board provides financial oversight, sets strategic priorities, and works to advance NASSP’s mission of supporting excellence in secondary school leadership nationwide.
