MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The 76-year-old woman who was struck by a driver in the parking lot of the Kroger on South Church Street on Sunday, August 24, has since died from her injuries. Police confirmed she passed away on Wednesday, September 3.

The medical examiner has been asked to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Heather Keller, 44, of Murfreesboro, was arrested and charged in connection with the hit-and-run. Her charges include reckless aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment with a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, failure to render aid, and driving on a revoked license.

Keller was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on August 25. Reports indicate she lives approximately one mile from the Innsbrooke Kroger store (2946 S Church St) where the incident occurred.

The Rutherford County District Attorney’s Office has been notified of the victim’s death, and upgraded charges could be forthcoming.

Murfreesboro Police also clarified that the victim was 76 years old, correcting initial reports that mistakenly listed her age as 55.
