Teamwork Between Dispatch, Police, and EMS Rescues Rutherford County Baby

La Vergne, TN – Quick action by La Vergne dispatchers, police, and Rutherford County EMS saved the life of an infant early Monday morning.

At around 5:00 a.m., dispatchers received a frantic call from a woman screaming for help about her baby. Despite the chaotic situation, dispatchers were able to quickly gather the information and direct first responders to the scene in northern Rutherford County.

Several La Vergne Police Officers arrived, and Sgt. Woodard observed the infant was not breathing. Acting immediately, Sgt. Woodard performed life-saving measures to open the child’s airway and closely monitored the infant until Rutherford County EMS arrived. EMS transported the child to a hospital for further care.

Officials commended the teamwork that made the rescue possible. “We want to commend our dispatchers for their calm under pressure, Rutherford County EMS for their swift response, and our officers for their decisive actions,” the department said. “This teamwork saved the life of an infant today, and we are grateful for their dedication to protecting our community.”
