Rutherford County, TN – Rutherford County Fire Rescue (RCFR) faced a challenging afternoon on Friday (11/14/2025) when two major structure fires broke out within minutes of each other.
The first call came in around 3:00 p.m. for a blaze on Lytle Creek Road, where firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions in an old barn that contained living quarters. Vehicles parked outside raised immediate concerns about possible victims, prompting crews to conduct a thorough search. Investigators with the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office later confirmed that the reported occupants were safe, allowing responders to issue an all clear.
Just minutes later, Rutherford County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a second fire on Strickland Drive, more than five miles away. That incident also involved an outbuilding with living quarters. Firefighters were met with heavy flames and were assisted by crews from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and investigators with the Murfreesboro Fire Marshal’s Office.
Despite the intensity of both fires, crews successfully brought the blazes under control without injuries. The Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the two incidents were unrelated, though investigations into their causes remain ongoing.
In addition to RCFR and Murfreesboro Fire Rescue, the response included support from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, and the Almaville Volunteer Fire Department. Their combined efforts ensured both fires were contained quickly and safely, underscoring the strength of local emergency response teams when faced with back-to-back challenges.
