The Greatest Gift We Can Give a Veteran Isn’t Wrapped--2PM Sat. at TN Veterans Home

MURFREESBORO, TN - We often say “support our troops,” but true support goes beyond flags and social media posts. For many elderly veterans living in state care, the holiday season can be marked by silence and isolation. This year, one local leader is determined to change that.

Elizabeth Stephens, CEO of DBS Cyber and a Retired Major in the U.S. Marine Corps, is shifting her mission from cyber strategy to compassion. At 2:00 o'clock his Saturday afternoon (12/20/2025) she and the Red Letter Awards will host the “Stars of Sacrifice” Gospel Christmas at the Tennessee State Veterans Home on Compton Road here in Murfreesboro. The event is not about gifts wrapped in paper—it’s about presence, music, and human connection.

Stephens reminds us that the transition from military to civilian life doesn’t end with a career. For many older veterans, the final transition is into quiet halls where the camaraderie of the squad bay and the noise of the mission have long faded.

Stephens said, “We want to look these men and women in the eye—veterans who fought in wars that are now history book chapters—and remind them that they are still relevant. That they are still part of the tribe.”

The Gospel Christmas will bring holiday cheer, live music, and most importantly, time spent together. Stephens is calling on fellow veterans, business leaders, and the Murfreesboro community to join in. No money or gifts are required—just a willingness to show up and share presence with those who paved the way.

The Tennessee State Veterans Home is located at 345 Compton Road, next to the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center. It will open its doors to anyone who wishes to honor these heroes.

For Stephens, the mission is clear, "While their marching days may be over, our veterans should never walk alone."

This holiday season, Murfreesboro has the chance to give the greatest gift of all—reminding our veterans that their service still matters, their stories still inspire, and their place in the community is forever secure.
