SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee Silver Alert issued earlier this week for a missing Bedford County man has been canceled after he was safely located. According to the Shelbyville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Clarence Carter has been found safe. The TBI confirmed the update in a public statement, saying, “Clarence Carter, the subject of a #TNSilverAlert, has been found safe in Manchester, TN.”
Carter, 64, had been reported missing from the Ligon Drive area of Shelbyville on Monday, January 12, 2026. At the time the alert was issued, authorities said he was believed to be on foot and may have needed assistance returning home due to a medical condition.
Following his safe recovery in Manchester, officials canceled the Silver Alert and thanked the public and partnering agencies for their assistance in helping locate him.
No additional details about the circumstances surrounding Carter’s recovery have been released.
