UPDATED: LA VERGNE, Tenn. — The La Vergne Police Department continues to investigate a weekend business burglary that marks the third ATM-related ram-and-grab theft reported in the region over the past 18 months.

According to investigators, the most recent incident occurred at Larros Market, located at the intersection of Old Nashville Highway and Jefferson Pike. A release from the La Vergne Police Department states that unknown suspects intentionally drove a pickup truck into the gas station in an apparent attempt to steal the ATM inside the store.

Police confirmed the suspects rammed the vehicle into the business, then chained the ATM to the truck and pulled the machine out of the store before fleeing the scene. Detectives are actively working the case, and no arrests have been made at this time.

The incident follows a similar and deadly attempted ATM theft in Murfreesboro last year. In that case, suspects used a sledgehammer to break the front window of a 7-Eleven on East Northfield Boulevard at Lascassas Pike. Armed men entered the store and allegedly attempted to secure a steel cable around the ATM in order to pull it out with a pickup truck.

Police said the suspects did not anticipate that a store customer was armed. The customer later told investigators he feared for his life and the life of the store clerk, prompting him to open fire. One suspect was killed at the scene, while the remaining suspects fled in a truck, dragging a steel cable behind them. Authorities later located the pickup truck at Chariot Pointe Apartments and ultimately arrested the surviving suspects in Texas, where they were extradited back to Murfreesboro (See Details of the 2025 Case HERE).

In 2024, another similar crime occurred at an Exxon gas station on South Church Street in Murfreesboro. In that case, four men used a stolen GMC Sierra pickup truck to smash through the storefront glass. Once inside, three of the suspects wrapped a steel cable around the ATM and signaled the driver to pull forward, ripping the machine from its foundation. Murfreesboro Police reported that both a clerk and a customer were inside the business at the time of the theft (See Details from the 2024 Case HERE)

In the ongoing La Vergne investigation involving Larros Market, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the burglary to contact detectives. The La Vergne Police Department can be reached at (615) 793-7744.
