NASHVILLE — An 18-year-old La Vergne resident died Wednesday evening following a crash at a busy Nashville intersection, according to authorities. Brent Rager II, of La Vergne, was fatally injured in the collision, which occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Summercrest Drive.

Preliminary findings from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department indicate Rager was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed along Murfreesboro Pike when the crash happened. Investigators report that the driver of an Infiniti SUV was entering Murfreesboro Pike from Summercrest Drive with a green traffic signal. Video evidence reviewed by police shows the motorcycle ran a red light before striking the driver’s side door of the SUV.

Rager died at the scene from his injuries. The driver of the Infiniti sustained minor injuries. Police said there were no signs of impairment involving either driver at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
