MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - One of the Rutherford County Historical Society’s most popular traditions is almost here, and if you’re not already a member, now’s the time to jump in. The annual Show and Tell Banquet—a favorite for longtime residents, newcomers, and anyone who loves a good story—returns Monday, March 18, 2026, at Oaklands Mansion, 901 N. Maney Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the storytelling begins right at 6:30, so don’t be late.
There is one catch: the banquet is members only, and the deadline to sign up is coming fast. Membership in the RCHS is just $25 a year and covers the entire family, but you must join and purchase banquet tickets by this Wednesday, March 11. Banquet tickets are $30 per person, and with the event’s popularity, organizers expect another full house.
Carol White reminds us that your $30 per person check for the SHOW AND TELL BANQUET needs to be postmarked by March 11, 2026. Remember, if you are not a member, you can do that on-line right now. Annual dues are only $25 (includes entire family). CLICK HERE to pay your membership fee on line.

The Show and Tell Banquet has become one of the Society’s signature gatherings, a relaxed evening where history isn’t something you read in a book—it’s something you hold in your hands or share in a story. Members bring artifacts, heirlooms, documents, or quirky finds that connect to Rutherford County’s past. Some items come from attic clean‑outs, others from family trunks, and some from unexpected discoveries during research or local exploring. Each object comes with a story, and each story adds another thread to the county’s shared history. Once again the Show and Tell Banquet will be Monday, March 18, 2026, at Oaklands Mansion, 901 N. Maney Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the storytelling begins right at 6:30, so don’t be late.
In addition to the SHOW AND TELL portion, you will also enjoy the down-home food as well. Here's the menu: Fried chicken, Meat loaf, Mashed potatoes and gravy, Green Beans, Ice Tea & Water, Coffee Bar, and Assorted Desserts.
If you’ve been thinking about joining the Rutherford County Historical Society, this is the perfect moment. Membership is affordable, the community is welcoming, and the Show and Tell Banquet is one of the most enjoyable ways to plug into local history. Just don’t wait—Wednesday’s deadline is firm, and once it passes, so does your chance to attend this year’s event.
