MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — While the traditional holiday is this weekend and the fact that pets don't have calendars, some furry friends in Rutherford County received an early surprise. The Beesley Animal Foundation held its annual "Eggstravaganza" on last Friday, a unique event where volunteers hide treat-filled eggs in the yards of participants for their four-legged friends to find.
The event featured twelve curated baskets—nine designed for dogs and three for foster cats—resulting in $430 raised for the nonprofit clinic. Among the participants was Ace, a six-year-old Shepherd-Lab mix owned by Jason Seas:
Ace, a rescue dog known for his love of golf cart rides, took part in a hunt that served a dual purpose: providing exercise and honoring a predecessor. Seas utilized the event to pay tribute to his late Basset hound, Gunner, whose "curious hound nature" made the fundraiser a highlight for the family in previous years.
The funds generated from the Eggstravaganza go directly toward the Beesley Animal Foundation’s mission of providing affordable spay and neuter services, vaccinations, and essential medical care. Beyond medical services, the organization operates pet food programs and community outreach initiatives aimed at keeping families and their pets together. As the foundation looks toward its busy spring season, officials are encouraging residents to get involved in upcoming high-profile events like the "Run See Spot Run" 5K and the "Paws and Pearls" gala.
