MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS)- Rutherford County Schools has a new leader for one of its largest campuses. Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan announced Jason Crutchfield will take over as principal of Rockvale Elementary School. Crutchfield is a familiar face in the community. He helped open Rockvale High School as an assistant principal in 2019. He replaces Dayna Nichols, who is retiring after a decade of service to the school.
Dr. Sullivan says Crutchfield’s enthusiasm and community roots make him the right fit for the job. Crutchfield grew up in the Smyrna area and has spent nearly two decades in the local school system. He previously served as an assistant principal at Smyrna Middle School. He holds degrees from Lipscomb University, MTSU, and Lincoln Memorial University.
Crutchfield says he is eager to build on the foundation already in place. He noted the strong tradition of the Rockvale cluster schools and his desire to keep "moving the needle" for students and staff. He officially begins his new duties as this school year concludes.
