MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Who says you have to drive hundreds of miles to enjoy a day at the beach? This Friday evening, Murfreesboro families can grab their flip flops and head to Barfield Crescent Park, where the shoreline is coming to town... That was Lynn Caldwell with Murfreesboro Parks & Rec, who told WGNS...
While you may find it hard to beleive... With noses covered in sunscreen, the Parks & Rec. crew will welcome the community to the beach, minus the ocean of course, this Friday evening at 5 pm. Scroll down for photos from past Boro Beach Parties.
Expect to see a temporary, but very real and very sandy oasis when you arrive at the annual (and FREE) Barfield Park Boro Beach Party... which will be located in the parking lot behind the baseball fields. This longtime community favorite has been bringing coastal vibes to the ‘Boro for around 16 years. And we're not talking about a small sandbox. This is a big bash!
To put it into perspective, 60-tons of sand is equivalent to the weight of 30 to 40 mid sized sedans. Or, imagine 7 and a half NBA basketball courts side-by-side - - 60-tons of sand would be enough to pack each of those 7 and a half NBA courts with a half inch of sand, from goal to goal...
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Friday evening, May 1, kids and families can dive into an evening packed with fun, laughter, and beach-themed activities. There will be sandcastle building, dancing, games, and plenty of opportunities to soak in the upbeat beach atmosphere—complete with a lively playlist to set the mood.
While there may not be crashing waves or salty air, the event delivers everything else you’d expect from a beach outing—minus the long drive and the sharks. Organizers encourage attendees to come dressed for the occasion, whether that means swimsuits, sunglasses, or your favorite pair of flip flops.
The Barfield Beach Party is designed with kids in mind, offering a safe and energetic environment where families can create lasting memories together. From limbo contests to free play in the sand, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Even better, the entire event is completely free, making it an easy and accessible option for families looking for affordable entertainment.
Barfield Crescent Park is located on Veterans Parkway in south Murfreesboro, providing a convenient spot for locals to enjoy a beach-style getaway without ever leaving town.
