MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS News) - Nearly four years after the fatal shooting of a Murfreesboro man walking home from work, investigators have announced arrests in what had become a cold case homicide investigation. According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, members of the Violent Crimes Unit, alongside officers with the Special Operations Unit, arrested two Murfreesboro men early Thursday morning in connection with the 2022 killing of Micah Robinson.
A Rutherford County grand jury returned indictments in May, charging both men with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Authorities identified the suspects as Jaylen Walston and Jayden Surine. Investigators allege 25-year-old Walston and 26-year-old Surine fatally shot Robinson on Oct. 29, 2022, as he was walking home from work in Murfreesboro.
The case had remained unsolved for nearly four years before detectives developed enough evidence to present to the grand jury, ultimately leading to the indictments and arrests this week.
As of Friday (May 8, 2026) evening, both suspects remained behind bars at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center in Murfreesboro. The duo are being held on bonds set at $500,000 each. Court records show the two men will be back in court next month. A hearing is scheduled for the two on June 17 in a Rutherford County Circuit Courtroom.
