MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Central Magnet School is entering a new chapter under the leadership of a veteran local educator. Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan announced today that Dr. Clark Blair will serve as the next principal of the campus.

Blair is a familiar face to Rutherford County families. He spent the last 21 years leading McFadden School of Excellence, which consistently ranks as one of the best elementary schools in the state. Sullivan says Blair’s deep understanding of the magnet school system makes him the perfect fit to lead Central’s high-achieving student body.

The move comes after current principal Dr. John Ash announced his retirement from the district to accept a new role as Director of Schools for Smith County. Under Ash, Central Magnet earned the title of the number one school in Tennessee and reached number three in national rankings.

Blair says leaving McFadden after two decades is a major shift, but he is ready for the challenge. He noted that he wants to honor the history of the building, which has served the community as Central High and Central Middle before becoming the magnet school it is today. Blair pledged to continue the school's tradition of excellence and live up to the campus motto of "Always My Best."
