Down in Gladeville, the Eagleville Eagles baseball team kept their momentum rolling in the TSSAA Class 1A State Baseball Tournament with a wild 8 to 5 victory over Coalfield at Wilson Central High School. Eagleville started early with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-out, two-RBI single from Kelten Freeze. Coalfield battled back to tie the game in the top of the fourth, but the Eagles answered immediately in the bottom half of the frame. Eagleville plated four runs without recording a single hit in the inning, using two wild pitches, an RBI fielder's choice from Sam Dodd, an intentional walk, and bases-loaded walks from Wyatt McDougal and Jacob Sweeney to blow the game open. Sweeney entered the game in relief during the fourth inning and threw two frames to earn the win. Drake Rzemieniewski and Porter Blair took over late, with Blair striking out the final batter to shut down any hopes of a Coalfield comeback. The victory keeps Eagleville in the winner's bracket, moving them into the bracket final Thursday at 2:00 PM - just one win away from a return trip to the state championship game.
