MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - The Siegel Middle School Lady Cavaliers softball team has carved their names into the history books. The local squad captured the TMSAA Class AA State Championship recently with a commanding 11-1 victory over Munford at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga. The victory caps off a perfect 30-0 season for the Rutherford County powerhouse.
Siegel's road to the state title featured absolute dominance at every level of play. The Lady Cavaliers tore through the District 6AA regular season with an 11-0 record before blanking Smyrna and Rockvale in the district tournament. They locked up the district crown with a 12-0 shutout against Stewarts Creek.
The winning streak continued into the postseason. Siegel captured the TMSAA Region 3AA Championship with wins over Lewisburg and Coffee County. They then punched their ticket to the state tournament by defeating West Wilson 10-0 in the Section 2AA Championship game in Mount Juliet.
At the state tournament, the Lady Cavaliers showed no signs of slowing down. They opened play on Tuesday with a decisive 12-2 win against Ross N. Robinson. In the championship finale, the offense produced early and often, securing the 11-1 win to bring the state trophy back home to Murfreesboro.
