MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Rutherford County motorists should prepare for a temporary traffic shakeup near a busy local landmark on Wednesday. Construction crews plan to close down the standard Interstate 24 eastbound on-ramp at the Joe B. Jackson Parkway interchange.
Drivers traveling east on Joe B. Jackson Parkway can use the new eastbound on-ramp directly to access the interstate. However, if you are traveling west on Joe B. Jackson, you will face a detour. Crews will route westbound traffic through the nearby Buc-ee’s roundabout, down Elam Road, and back onto Joe B. Jackson Parkway to reach the open eastbound ramp.
The detour allows crews to safely lay down a new concrete pavement expansion. The project also adds a new curb, sidewalk, and green space to the area. Workers expect the detour to remain in place from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24th. Local officials urge drivers to slow down, look out for workers, and expect minor delays through the construction zone.
