This year’s holiday is extra special as communities across the nation mark America’s 250th anniversary — and our county is leaning in with pride, history, and plenty of hometown fun.
Independence Day Celebrations in Rutherford County
Smyrna, TN
Thu. (July 2nd, 2026) 5PM Smyrna's celebration is at the Lee Victory Recreation Park (110 Sam Ridley Pkwy E, Smyrna). The fireworks display will be at dark. It’s free and open to the public. (RAIN DATE: July 3)
Rockvale, TN
Sat. (July 4, 2026) 10AM – afternoon: The oldest Independence Day Celebration in Rutherford County takes place in Rockvale. It began July 4, 1928, and continues to be at the Rockvale Community Center, 9972 Rockvale Rd. This is the 98th Annual celebration sponsored by the Rockvale Ruritan Club. You’ll step back in time to enjoy an old Southern style picnic with barbecue, hamburgers, Kona Ice, homemade ice cream, and famous local fried pies. Enjoy family-oriented hayrides, youth softball, and a cornhole tournament. Admission is FREE.
Murfreesboro, TN
Sat. (July 4, 2026) 4:30 PM: CELEBRATION UNDER THE STARS at The Fountains (1500 Medical Center Parkway). DJ, food trucks and splash pad 4:30-7:30 PM. Live entertainment by John Foster at 7:30 PM. Spectacular fireworks show at 9:00 PM. This is a high pyrotechnic show so that people can watch it from many parts of the ‘Boro. It’s all free and brought to you by Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation and Middle Tennessee Electric.
La Vergne, TN
Sat. (July 4, 2026) at Veterans Memorial Park (115 Floyd Mayfield Dr., La Vergne, TN). Gates open at 5:30 PM and music with Zone Status starts at 6:00 PM. This free event also features several food vendors. The spectacular fireworks show will begin at dark.
