UPDATED: MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS News) - Murfreesboro police have arrested three people, including a 15-year-old, in connection with the alleged burglary of more than a dozen vehicles early Friday morning at two apartment complexes. According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, 20-year-old James A. Edge, 19-year-old Casey J. Stevens and a 15-year-old juvenile are accused of entering vehicles during the early morning hours of Friday, June 26, at apartment communities on Warrior Drive and South Church Street.

Police said officers responded to the area after receiving reports of three individuals dressed in all black, carrying backpacks, and allegedly moving suspiciously around one of the apartment complexes. When officers arrived, the suspects reportedly ran from the scene.

Officers pursued the suspects and were able to take the 15-year-old into custody within a matter of minutes. Edge was later found hiding behind a nearby restaurant, while Stevens was identified and arrested shortly afterward.

After questioning, all three were transported to detention facilities. The juvenile was taken to the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center, less than two miles north of where he was apprehended. Edge and Stevens were booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center later that morning, with booking times listed at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.

Court records now confirm that both Edge and Stevens are each facing 14 counts of burglary to an auto, one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and one count of evading arrest. The burglary-related charges are listed as Class E felonies. The contributing to the delinquency of a minor and evading arrest charges are listed as Class A misdemeanors.

The 15-year-old is also facing a charge tied to violating Murfreesboro’s local child curfew ordinance. A juvenile detention hearing will have to be held before the teenager can be released. Because of the suspect’s age, few additional details about the juvenile have been released.

“During the summer months, we often see a spike in teenage crime,” said Public Safety Information Director Larry Flowers. “Parents should be vigilant by knowing where their children are and what they are doing.”

Stevens and Edge remain at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Stevens’ bond was set at $40,000, while Edge’s bond was set at $39,500. As of Monday evening, June 29, both adult suspects remained behind bars in Murfreesboro.

According to court documents, Stevens lives at one of the apartment complexes where some of the alleged burglaries may have occurred. Edge is listed as living in Madison, Tennessee.

Preliminary hearings for the two adults are scheduled for August 3, 2026, in Rutherford County General Sessions Court before Judge Lisa Eischeid.
