Crisp fall mornings signal the beginning of construction crews trying to complete projects on time, and Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran gives a heads-up on areas of town to avoid between today and October 15th.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for construction of the new Overpass. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for construction work. W Lytle Street at Broad St is also closed to traffic for construction work. Westbound traffic has be shifted to the south side near the newly constructed ramps on Old Fort Parkway and Memorial Blvd. Northbound traffic on Broad St at Memorial Blvd has been shifted all the way to the east side onto new pavement. Appropriate traffic controls are be in place.

W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle Street will be closed to through traffic between Walnut St and Maple St for construction work. On Wednesday, N Maple St between College St and Burton St and W Lytle St between N Maple St and N Walnut St will be closed to traffic for three weeks. Access to local businesses will be kept open at all times. Message boards and appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 - Friday, March 31, 2017: As part of the Rutherford County Judicial Center construction, Burton St between Maple St and Church St will be closed to traffic to make roadway improvements. Burton St traffic will be detoured onto Lytle St. There will be traffic interruptions and minor lane closures at the intersection of Maple St and Burton for steel and equipment deliveries. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd has been shifted to the east side and reduced to two-lanes two-way between E Main St and Greenland Dr. E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic. Sunday through Wednesday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, utility crossing work will be done on Middle Tennessee Blvd at Bell St, and Faulkinberry Dr and at Division St. Middle Tennessee Blvd will be reduced to one lane flagging operation. Appropriate traffic control signs and message boards will be in place.

Sewer Pump Station Project (NW Broad St at Battlefield Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 5 pm: Contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be installing sewer lines within TDOT right-of-way/Battlefield Pkwy. A small section of Battlefield Pkwy is closed. Underground bore work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Asplundh Tree Trimming Work

1) SE Broad St just north of Rutherford Blvd - 10/10

2) Thompson Lane just north of Medical Center Pkwy - 10/11

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday, Weather Permitting, 9:00 am to Noon: Asplundh Tree Trimming crews will be trimming trees on Thompson Lane just north of Medical Center Pkwy and on SE Broad St just north of Rutherford Blvd. Traffic will be reduced to a moving one lane flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

City Urban Environmental Department Tree Removal Work

1) Jackson St between N Academy St and Courtland St

2) Manchester Pike just north of Fieldstone Dr

3) Cherry Lane just south of E Lytle St

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, Weather Permitting, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm: Urban Environmental crews will be removing trees on Jackson St, Manchester Pike and Cherry Lane. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM: City paving contractor will be paving the following streets:

1) Stonehedge Dr, Tides Ridge Ct, Tides Ridge Cove, Stonetrace Dr, Waywood Ct - Paving work

There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
