Arrest in S. Church Street Motel Robbery

Murfreesboro Police have made two arrests after investigating an aggravated robbery at a local motel.

Detective James Abbott reports 38-year old Shawn Johnson and 20-year old Jalen Odom went to room 216 of the South Church location of America's Best Value Inn on June 30th.

Abbott reports the two got into a verbal altercation with the occupant, Slater Cacace. A witness reported Johnson pulled a small handgun with a laser sight and forced Cacace onto the bed.

The witness added her and another occupant onto the floor. There was also a time when all were allegedly assaulted before Johnson and Odom eventually fled.

Abbot reports during a follow up investigation, detectives made contact with the two at a Battleground Drive apartment. There, a pistol matching he description given by witnesses was found.

During questioning, Abbott says Odom admitted to being at the hotel room June 30th with Johnson and that items were taken from the room.

Both men were charged with aggravated robbery. Johnson's bond was set at 30-thousand dollars. Odom's bond was 60-thousand. Both will be in General Sessions Court on August 8th to answer to the charges.
