A Benley Street car fire now being investigated as arson.

Murfreesboro Police Officer Valerio Henriquez responded to 1495 Benley Street around 4:45 Sunday morning.

The victim told the officer he parked his brother's car behind the home around 10pm Saturday night and saw it in flames just before calling police.

Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and stated the fire was caused by the engine. But after speaking to the victim, the fire marshal was contacted for an investigation.

The victim reported a pair of slippers left next to the vehicle that didn't belong to anyone he knew. He did say, however, they looked like slippers he saw someone walking around the residence wearing the night before.
