Four boys who play in a vacant house were charged with criminal trespassing Saturday after a worker found them inside the Old South Road house, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputy said.

Three of the boys are 15 and one boy is 14, Deputy Joey Vann reported. The 14-year-old boy was charged with vandalism after he allegedly broke a window and one of the 15-year-old boys was charged with simple possession of marijuana after Vann located the illegal drug in his backpack.

Deputy Vann responded to the home after the worker entered to finish some work and saw two boys inside. Deputies quickly located the suspects and talked with them.

The 14-year-old told Vann the boys were jumping out the window when he hit the glass and it shattered. Another boy told Deputy Michael Parsons the boys “hang out” inside the house because it is unoccupied.

Hearings for the four boys are set June 16 in Juvenile Court.
