Ford of Murfreesboro continues its policy of honoring a deputy each month with the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office. Sheriff’s Deputy Roscoe Sanders, assisted by Sergeant Derek Oeser, risked their lives to save a sleeping man when fire engulfed his home Aug. 3.

Sanders responded to the fire where neighbors told him they believed the resident remained inside the home. After Sanders knocked on doors and windows with no response, he and Oeser entered the home and found the man asleep in the bedroom. They safely removed him from the burning home with no injuries.

Because of his life-saving achievement, Ford of Murfreesboro is recognizing Deputy Sanders as “Deputy of the Month” for August.

General Manager David Lee of Ford of Murfreesboro presented an engraved watch to Sanders, who is the second deputy to earn the award. “We at Ford of Murfreesboro appreciate so much these deputies putting their lives on the line every day,” Lee said. “This is the least we can do for law enforcement in our community.”

Sheriff Robert F. Arnold commended Sanders and said he appreciated Ford of Murfreesboro for recognizing deputies who demonstrate exceptional work at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. Lt. Joe Gray nominated Sanders for the award.

“I commend Deputy Sanders and Sgt. Oeser for a job well done and their determination to save a citizen from harm during this fire,” Gray said.
