A man who robbed three strangers at gunpoint in the fall of 2010 was sentenced to 57 years in prison by a Rutherford County Circuit Court judge. In fact, Bobby Duane Parker has now been transferred from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center to the Tennessee Department of Correction.

Jurors convicted 29-year old Parker of Meadowlark Drive in Smyrna on three counts of attempted aggravated robbery and one count of attempted aggravated burglary.

Circuit Court Judge David M. Bragg sentenced Parker as a career criminal who must serve 60 percent of his sentence or about 30 years in prison before being eligible for parole. He faces an additional sentence in Williamson County.

Parker attempted to rob Tommy and Joanna McClendon and Tommy McClendon’s brother at gunpoint during a home invasion in October 2010 near Morton Lane in Smyrna, said Rutherford County Sheriff’s Detective Jim Tramel, who investigated the case. Parker stole a unique set of women’s golf clubs. He was apprehended in Franklin a few days later while trying to sell the golf clubs. "He has an extensive criminal history of burglary, theft and DUIs", the detective said.
