Newly filed unemployment claims are down again, for the week ending on September 12th in Tennessee. New unemployment claims also went down the previous week ending on September 5th, but were up the week prior that closed out August.
Currently in Rutherford County, 8,535 residents are receiving unemployment benefits. Looking back to the start of the pandemic, only 429 workers in Rutherford County were initially approved for unemployment benefits.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, there have been over 840,000 new unemployment claims filed in the Volunteer State. Out of that number, only 264,202 claims were approved and paid, since September 12, 2020.
To date, more than $141-millions has gone to those who are unemployed during the pandemic in Tennessee. Right now, there are 163,791 people in Tennessee receiving unemployment benefits, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
