Public Identified Fatal Crash Subject

(SMYRNA, TN)  Thanks to information given by the public, the Smyrna Police Department have arrested  Ruben Buenrostro Contreras of Smyrna on charges related to leaving the scene of a fatal accident.  The multi-vehicle crash occured around 5:00 o’clock Thursday (9/23/2021) evening at the intersection of Rocky Fork, Almaville Road and Morton Lane.

When officers arrived at the scene, witnesses told them that a small red 2-door pickup had left before they arrived. The 1990 to early 2000’s model vehicle was last seen traveling down Morton Lane toward Almaville Road. It likely had damage to the rear passenger side of the truck.

One person was rushed to the ER at StoneCrest Medical Center, but they died later.

Ruben Buenrostro Contreras has been booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention.
