TBI, ATF Assisting in Investigation After Two Found Dead in Rutherford County Home

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - The Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating two fire-related deaths at a single-family home on Ashwood Drive in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. According to county maps, a handful of homes with a Mount Juliet address are within Rutherford County, which was the situation with the home this past Saturday, June 6.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) was dispatched to the residence around 6:00 p.m. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, deputies discovered there had previously been a fire at the home and requested assistance from Rutherford County Fire Rescue. Crews responded and found no active fire upon arrival.

Investigators with the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office were later requested by the RCSO to respond to the scene. Shortly thereafter, two individuals and a dog were confirmed to have been found inside the residence. All three were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office is currently coordinating the investigation with assistance from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, the La Vergne Police Crime Scene Unit, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.
