Beware of Homes for Rent on Craigslist

A Poplar Avenue man reported an Internet scam to Murfreesboro Police. Last Thursday, the 24-year old man found a home to rent in Columbia, Tennessee. He made contact with a "Fred Bishop" through email. He was sent an application, completed it and returned it to the suspect. He was then asked to send a MoneyGram for $311.50 to Roderick Griffin for a deposit. When the victim went to Columbia to look at the home for rent, he found it was vacant and in good condition. However, there was a real estate company who had the home for rent and they weren't familiar with Fred Bishop or Roderick Griffin.
