Bicycle rider pulled over in Murfreesboro, arrested

A traffic stop of a bicycle rider on Broad Street ended with an arrest.

35-Year old Mitchell Earl Jackson was stopped for not having a light in front or behind his bike while riding in the dark. Murfreesboro Police stopped the homeless man for a light violation.

Officer Schalburg reported that Jackson smelled of marijuana. The officer wrote in a report, "When questioned, Mr. Jackson produced a bag of marijuana out of his front left pocket." Police also found a digital scale in his backpack. 6 Individual baggies of weed were also located.

During the stop, Jackson agreed to show the officer his cell phone. "Multiple text messages were found of where Mr. Jackson was selling marijuana to a multitude of people," according to the report.

The marijuana and phone were seized and Jackson was charged with the sale of a schedule six drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
