Also today, two former Rutherford County prep athletes will be opening day pitchers for two different M-L-B teams. Former Smyrna standout Sonny Gray will be the opening day pitcher for the Oakland A's when they host the Cleveland Indians this evening. Earlier in the day, former Blackman prepper David Price will take the ball for the Tampa Bay Rays as they take on Toronto.

Over the weekend, an explosive five-run fifth inning propelled Middle Tennessee past No. 10 Rice, 8-5, on Sunday afternoon at Reese Smith Jr. Field. The Raiders shook off a slow start and broke up Rice's perfect game in the fourth inning. Middle Tennessee answered with six runs in the next two frames to hold a lead they would never relinquish.
