(SMYRNA) Traffic on Jefferson Pike at Hickory Grove Road came to an abrupt stop Saturday (12/21/2019) morning when a big rig overturned and completely blocked the roadway.

The telecommunicators at Smyrna Police told NewsRadio WGNS that the 911 call came in around 4:45AM, and thankfully there were no injuries.

Smyrna Public Information Officer Kathy Farrell said, "It appears the driver left the road on the right shoulder and over corrected, causing the accident."

It took five laborious hours for Smyrna Fire and Police, along with other crews to clear the busy roadway and open it to normal traffic flow. Shortly before 10:00AM Saturday, that was accomplished.

Again, miraculously there were no injuries.
