The 37th Annual Bill Carey Golf Scramble is set for Wednesday, June 4th, at Indian Hills Golf Club. Proceeds will benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Did you realize that today alone, diabetes will kill 200 Americans. In this 24-hour period, 180 limbs will be amputated. Also in this period 5,000 Americans will be diagnosed with the disease. Unfortunately, 7-million more will have this disease, but not know it.

Nashville American Diabetes Association Executive Director Kristie Ryan said, "We are so grateful to be a part of the MTAR Bill Carey REALTOR® Golf Scramble. The Association’s ongoing support makes a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.”

The entry fee for each four-member team is $400. Individuals may also enter for a $100 fee and be teamed up with other golfers entering as individuals. Hole sponsorships are $100. For that donation, businesses receive their names and logos on a sign posted at one of the Tee areas as well as having their names printed with other sponsors on the main tournament banner and in the Clubhouse.

This is a best-ball, 18-hole scramble. All golfers will receive complimentary gifts, lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. (with a 1 p.m. shotgun start), beverages on the course and an after-tournament party. Someone could even win a two-year lease on a 2014 Ford Escape SE from Ford of Murfreesboro for sinking a hole-in-one on the par-three 15th hole. Other hole-in-one prizes are stay-and-play trips to Treetops Golf Resort in Gaylord, Michigan, and Revere Golf Club plus Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Since its inception, the annual golf scramble has raised more than $200,000 to support the American Diabetes Association and fund scholarships for area high school seniors through the Middle Tennessee Association of REALTORS® Scholarship Fund, according to Susan Woolsey, MTAR community affairs manager. The tournament still needs teams and hole sponsors to support these two causes.

There will also be trophies, cash awards and other prizes for flight winners and skill shot competition winners. Of course, Woolsey emphasizes that the real winners are the American Diabetes Association and the scholarship recipients.
