For the first time since the 1984 Oakland Patriots, Rutherford County will have a boys basketball team in the state championship game. Blackman defeated Brentwood 47-41 in the semifinals of the Blue Cross Basketball Championships. They'll play Oak Ridge, which edged Arlington 57-56. It ends a streak of six years of Memphis teams in the state title game. WGNS State Farm coverage begins at 1:35pm with the DirecTV by EnterSource Pregame Show. Tip off from MTSU's Murphy Center at 2pm. The Blaze hope to become the first team since the 1965 Central Tigers to win a boys state basketball championship.

Middle Tennessee's Lady Raiders defeat FIU 64-57 to advance to C-USA title game in their first year. The game will tip at 6pm with Blue Raider Sports Network coverage on WGNS at 5:30pm.

The Middle men fell to Tulsa in the Conference USA semifinal game 76-69. The Blue Raiders N-C-A-A tournament hopes came to an end with the loss, however they will likely have a chance to compete in the N-I-T or another post season tournament.
