The Blackman boys quest for a second state title in three years fell short in the BlueCross Basketball semifinals, dropping a 46-41 decision to Memphis East.

The Blaze trailed 44-41 with seconds to go and a turnover ended an attempt to tie the game with a three-pointer. Memphis East scored on a dunk as time expired when Blackman didn't foul.

Coach Barry Wortman says he's pleased with the way his team fought back in the second half against a good Mustangs squad...

The Blaze trailed by eight at the half and as many as 14 in the game.

Christian DeWitt, who led the team with 19-points and three 3-pointers, says the shots were just falling for him in the second half...

Blackman's season ends with a 33-1 record. Memphis East plays Cordova in an all Shelby County state title game.
