Blackman Defeats Hendersonville 38-7, Plus Playoff Scores

Blackman was hoping the rematch of their season opener with Hendersonville in the playoffs went the same way as the regular season game. And it did. The Blaze defeated the Commandos 38-7.

This game was much different than their 35-point win in Week 1. Blackman was without Master Teague, who was lost for the season after the Oakland game with an ankle injury. Hendersonville didn't have two-way starter Anthony Hughes back in September but did Friday.

It was Blackman's senior quarterback Conner Mitchell who picked up the slack for his team, running for 153-yards on 17-carries and scoring three touchdowns, including this long run late in the second quarter:

That put Blackman up 17-7 and Mitchell scored his second of three touchdowns just 2-minutes later to give his team a 24-7 halftime advantage.

They would tack on two scores in the fourth quarter for the final margin of 38-7.

Running backs Jordan Brown and Conner Murphy combined for over 100 yards as well in the victory. At 9-2, Blackman travels to Oakland Friday with a spot in the state's final eight on the line. NewsRadio WGNS will have coverage of that game, beginning at 6pm pregame.
