The all clear has been given by emergency personnel after a bomb scare at the Republican headquarters on East Main Friday morning.

Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers emails "police with the assistance of Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue evacuated several downtown businesses while they investigated a suspicious package." He adds "everything is safe, scene is clear and employees have returned to work." Flowers says police K-9 was brought in to aid in the investigation.

NewsRadio WGNS has learned from an elected official that a staff person at the GOP headquarters opened a package, which appeared to contain elements of a bomb.

But again - the scene has been cleared and businesses are back open.
