The first weekend of closure at the Bridge over Broad construction project has come and gone. City Councilman Eddie Smotherman tells NewsRadio WGNS it didn't take as long as expected to do the planned work last weekend...

The intersection of Broad Street, Memorial Boulevard and Old Fort Parkway will again be closed at 8pm Friday until 6am Monday morning to complete installing the steel girders connecting the bridge.

The intersection, which sees an estimated 60-thousand cars pass through each day, is expected to see construction complete by December this year.
