Brittney Reed-Saltz MGL's Branch Librarian

The Rutherford County Library System recently named Brittney Reed-Saltz as branch librarian of the Myrtle Glanton-Lord (MGL) facility.

Reed-Saltz said, "My favorite part of the job so far has been getting to know the patrons and the community. MGL might be small, but it has the potential to make a huge impact on people's lives."

In 2013 she joined the Rutherford County Library System began as a Library Associate at Smyrna Public Library. A year later, Reed-Saltz was promoted to the Supervisory Associate position in Smyrna.

Rutherford County Library System Director Rita Shacklett says, "I love watching our employees grow in their skills and be able to rise up to new positions and challenges. I'm so pleased Brittney is leading the work at MGL, and look forward to great things ahead for that branch and her patrons."

Prior to her career locally, she was employed by another mid-state library, and also has experience as a editor of a literary magazine.

Brittney Reed-Saltz is a native of neighboring Woodbury, and she studied English and psychology at the University of Tennessee - Martin. After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in 2011, she earned her MLIS from the University of Washington - Seattle in 2013. She is a member of the Tennessee Library Association.

She and her husband, Jeremy, live here in Murfreesboro.
