Fast action by police landed a burglary suspect behind bars.

When police responded to a North Maple Street business in reference to a burglary alarm, they found a man climbing out of a rear window of the building in question. When the culprit hit the ground, he took off on foot running towards North Spring Street. The man didn't get far as a police K-9 tracked him to a trash can on North Spring.

25-Year old Marquis Williams was found hiding behind the trash can, according to an arrest report. Williams was quickly taken into custody and interviewed by officers.

Williams allegedly stole gold coins and cash. Some of the cash and the coins were still in his possession when caught. The remainder of the loot was found in the pockets of a jacket he left behind.

Williams was charged with "Burglary, Theft, Vandalism and Evading Arrest."
