Busy Week Ahead For Murfreesboro City Schools

(MURFREESBORO) It's a busy week ahead for Murfreesboro City Schools. That includes a camp for pre-kindergarten students, a special celebration where new teachers sign their contracts with the system, and around the corner is the opening of the new Salem Elementary School.

The week begins with kindercamp on Monday (7/15/2019). Kindercamp is designed to help alleviate the fears of the first days of schools for the youngest students This camp runs next this coming Monday through Friday (July 15-19) and focuses on preparing upcoming kindergarten students for the transition to elementary school.

New Teacher Signing Day

This coming Tuesday (7/16/2019) is Murfreesboro City School system's SECOND ANNUAL NEW TEACHER SIGNING DAY. The focus of this annual celebration is for new teachers to sign their contract with the schools, while surrounded by Dr. Linda Gilbert, school principals, family members and school mascots.

This special event will be held in the Teacher Learning Center at Murfreesboro City Schools, 2552 S. Church Street.

Salem Ribbon Cutting

The ribbon cutting for Murfreesboro City School's thirteenth campus, Salem Elementary School, will be held at 2:00 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2019. The community is encouraged to attend.

Trey Duke is the principal of this new facility that is located at St. Andrews Drive and Veterans Parkway.

Principal Duke notes that students and teachers will work in a hands-on learning atmosphere focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM).
